I truly love Voces 8, and this Britten is sublime. But in the unison section at 14:15, both women and men, I am hearing some scooping in the voices, perhaps intentional in a “lazy river” way, but I didn’t like it and I didn’t feel that it had any place in the piece. Because they were trying to limit vibrato, perhaps this lent to the issue.

Was that a Rhapsody in Blue quote????? That was FIRE, I don't even care if Berlin didn't write it, it fits super well here!

Can someone please tell me more about Clements - the person who arranged this version? Listening to the transition from 2:15 to 2:28, "Making my entrance; I'm sure of my lines..." The chord progressions and counterpoint for this passage are stunning. It's just about the best transcription for madrigal I've ever heard - Renaissance to modern an everything in-between. Needless to say, Voces 8 totally nailed it. Can we get other works from Clements?
