The VOCES8 Foundation works to inspire people through music and is one of the leading vocal music education charities in the world. It is responsible for hundreds of professional concerts each year around the world by VOCES8 and Apollo5, a series of chart topping classical albums on Decca, Signum and VOCES8 Records, and sheet music and education resources published by Edition Peters. It runs an innovative and wide reaching education programme reaching 40,000 young people every year.

VOCES8 is joined by members of the VOCES8 Foundation Choir & Orchestra, and violin virtuoso Jack Liebeck for this performance of Vaughan Williams' 'The Lark Ascending', conducted by Artistic Director, Barnaby Smith.
Originally scored for orchestra and violin solo, this new adaption by Barnaby Smith combines Vaughan Williams' original score with fragments from Paul Drayton's choral arrangement, allowing for the George Meredith poetry which originally inspired Vaughan Williams to be heard with the full orchestral score for the first time.

Fantastic arrangement. To be honest I suspect I would like it better without the words, the natural acoustic makes them hard to decipher anyway. Still great. Makes me wonder if I could sing the violin part :D

Just sublime this. Voces 8 can rest assured that Byrd, were he able to hear his music sung like this 400 years after his passing, would be well pleased. They are bringing Byrd to life more than any other ensemble I know of.....

Gorgeous 💚🙏 I love the contrast of the crystal clear top note with the delicious layers of lower register vibrato.
Katie Jeffries-Harris's angelic voice pierces through Judy Collins and Barbara Streisand. Not sure about the arrangement though. The octet was bit too intrusive and distracted from feeling the force of Sondheim's masterful musical poetry.

I can't say enough about this marvelous group. They sing in perfect, or near-perfect intonation. They sing expressively and I believe love what they are singing. They are having a good time. Also, I must give a "shout out" regarding Orlando Gibbons, one of the greatest composers of the late-Elizabethan and early-Jacobean eras, both for vocal and instrumental music
